Yellow and Grey

As of late I have been obsessing over grey and yellow together. I have noticed the trend not only on design blogs like design*sponge and Apartment Therapy but in my friend's decor choices as well. Today I've been exploring all the grey and yellow combinations out there and present to you my findings.

The original inspiration for this post came from the following three photos:

Once Upon a Book Bookmarks from Urban Paisley. Handmade from hand cut and embroidered wool felt and embellished with repurposed vintage or modern buttons. Everything on the bookmark is sewn and there was no glue used. The clip measures approximately 2 1/2 inches, $4.50 each.

I like this necklace because it was made with a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge and a Nickel. I love it when people find new uses for things and I would never think to use a nickel when creating jewelry. I also like the picture they chose to use of the Bridge, it gives the necklace an old-timey feel.

Kent Rogowski

While in DUMBO over the past weekend we went into Zakka, a japanese design book and toy store. I came across a book called Bears by Kent Rogowski. He disassembles stuffed animals and puts them back together inside out. I love how they still have charm and seem utterly lovable, despite their creepiness. And once again I missed his exhibit by just a few days! I'm getting good at this, arg! He had the following work with puzzles in an exhibit called Love=Love at the Jen Bekmen Gallery in NY. He is stationed in Brooklyn though so, like Dan Funderburgh I hope I have the opportunity to see more.

I'm pretty much speechless because I just discovered Dan Funderburgh! He is a commercial artist that designs wallpaper, prints and apparel here in Brooklyn. He also makes amazing aaart like this:


(I'm really bummed that I just missed this exhibit. Since he lives here it's possible I'll catch a show somewhere around here soon... I hope!!)



His wallpaper is so unsuspecting. You're looking at it like, "oh thats nice" then BAM- there's a rat, a parking meter and a fire hydrant... but its still pretty! His wallpaper can be found at Flavor Paper for copious amount of money per roll. And don't forget to check out his personal blog.
